Key Changes to the 2022–2023 Calendar of Events

  • Additional events and descriptions are available to help districts with pre-administration activities.

  • For clarity, event descriptions specify "on the date listed", "by the date listed", and "during the window listed".

  • With the exception of the Regional Testing Coordinator Training, trainings should be completed by the recommended dates. If necessary, additional trainings may occur after the recommended dates.

  • For the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) spring administration, the testing windows are specified separately; however, the pre- and post-administration activities are grouped together. Although there are three separate testing windows based on content areas, these testing windows will be considered one administration—the spring STAAR administration.

  • STAAR administration dates are no longer separated by online and paper. Regardless of the test mode, districts still have two-week testing windows.

  • STAAR assessments are grouped by content area—mathematics, reading language arts (RLA), science, and social studies. The content area groupings include assessments for students enrolled in grades 3–8 and end-of-course (EOC) assessments.

  • Entering student information into the Data Entry Interface (DEI) and uploading holistic ratings into the Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE) are critical steps for many assessment programs. As such, specific data entry due dates have been added.

  • As an optional assessment program, STAAR Interim Assessments have been removed.

  • Reporting dates for results will be in three phases—early, preliminary, and final. Early results are available for districts to make student-level decisions. Preliminary results for accountability are available before data corrections, and final results for accountability are available after data corrections.

  • Reporting dates this year are dependent on the availability of approved performance standards for all STAAR EOC assessments, all STAAR grades 3–8 assessments, STAAR Alternate 2 RLA assessments, and TELPAS reading and writing assessments.
