Technology Training Activities

Technology staff training on test security and administration procedures is required at least once; however, campus coordinators may require additional training for technology staff and other campus personnel at their discretion. Annual training is strongly encouraged, especially for new or updated policies and procedures.

❏ Understand Technology Staff Responsibilities

Campus coordinators must ensure that test administrators understand their responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • ensuring that administrative rights necessary for installing software are obtained

  • ensuring that network infrastructure and devices have been assessed and meet the minimum system requirements

  • ensuring that all testing software is properly installed, configured, and tested

  • ensuring that devices are available and properly configured for online testing sessions and monitored rater calibration sessions

  • being available for assistance before and during test sessions to address technology problems that might occur

  • being available for assistance during DEI submissions to address technology problems that might occur

  • being available for assistance before and during monitored rater calibration sessions to address technology problems that might occur

  • maintaining test security and confidentiality

  • reporting any suspected violation of test security to the campus or district coordinator

❏ Review Technology Resources

Campus coordinators should direct technology staff to review and become familiar with all the information in the Technology Resources section.

❏ Attend Training

Campus coordinators schedule and conduct training sessions. Any technology staff who participate in the Texas Assessment Program or handle secure test materials, content, or data are required to receive training on test security and administration procedures. Training sessions should be completed by the recommended dates on the Calendar of Events. If necessary, additional individuals may be trained after these dates.

❏ Review and Sign a Test Security Oath

  • Technology staff participating in the Texas Assessment Program must complete an Oath of Test Security and Confidentiality after training and before handling secure test materials and content.

  • Technology staff must initial each item as applicable on the test security oath.

  • A copy of the completed test security oath (electronic or paper) must be submitted to the campus coordinator.
